Born and raised in Adelaide Zak was gifted a film camera setup for his 12th birthday by his family. In 2001 on a family holiday Zak's interest in photography really began to thrive. It was several years later when Zak started working in the industry photographing events, editorial and fashion after changing from a career in entertainment marketing in 2009. After cutting his teeth working and assisting leading photographers in Sydney and Melbourne Zak attained a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Photography) from the University of Sydney in 2013 and followed that up with First Class Honours in 2014.
In 2014 after landing the role of Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club's Official Photographer for their World Club Cup Tour of Morocco Zak became a regular photographer for Getty Images and has covered various commercial and editorial assignments in Australia and abroad. In 2015 Zak relocated to Berlin where he assisted renowned advertising photographers in Europe and continued working for Getty Images covering entertainment, sport and news assignments including Fashion Weeks in Berlin and London.
2016 saw Zak return home to Australia where he was part of a large editorial team of sports photographers covering the Australian Open Tennis for Getty Images. Since then he has shifted focus to advertising in the sports, lifestyle and fashion industries specialising in portraiture.
Zak has setup a network of event photographers in Australia who are available to cover PR activations and branded events Australia wide.
Zak's images have been published in newspapers, magazines and online all over the world including Sydney Morning Herald, The Irish Times, Rolling Stone, SPIN, Timeout and The Guardian to list just a few.
